Seniors today face a bewildering array of health plan choices. Should you stick with Original Medicare, the federal government’s program? Medicare Part A covers hospital, skilled nursing facility, hospice and home health care costs; most people over age 65 automatically qualify and do not pay a premium because they paid Medicare taxes while working.
Part B covers “medically necessary” services, such as doctors’ services, outpatient care, durable medical equipment, home health services and some preventive services. You will pay a monthly premium for Part B coverage.
